It's been a while since I've posted one of these and if any day were the day to do it, today is that day!
Good: I finally returned to yoga class tonight after a very long and unwanted break. It was challenging, fun and wonderful. But I'm already sore and that means I really need to get back into the swing of it.
Bad: My acclimation to the "cold" weather of these parts. It's not even that cold but after almost 3 years of not being in Utah, well, I'm weak when it comes to cold weather.
Random: This isn't that random or maybe it is. Actually, now that I think about it, random is the perfect word. It's the word Heather would use. It's hard to believe it's already been one year. I still can't really believe it. I keep thinking the next time I'm in SLC, I'll bump into Heather but I won't and it's still really hard. I have been reflecting a lot on this and what I said to myself last year. Heather was big on living life to the fullest and I wonder, have I? I like to think I've tried. I sure don't sit around all the time. I'm the opposite... even to what some would say is the crazy extreme. But it's good. Tonight in yoga I really, truly felt there was a presence. It wasn't just the fog and dizziness from my head cold but there was really some sort of feeling the entire time. It was perfect. From the noise that happened that would have made Heather giggle her one-of a kind laugh to the appearance of mountains on the ceiling during relaxation. Even the poem read at the end by our instructor had a touch of Heather. -
May I be generous and helpful.
May I be pure and virtuous.
May I be patient and able to bear and forbear the wrongs of others.
May I be strenuous, energetic and persevering.
May I practice meditation and attain concentration and oneness to serve all beings.
May I gain wisdom and be able to give the benefit of my wisdom to others.
I couldn't help but think of Heather looking down or out at all of us with this sense, the sense talked about in this poem. And then of course she would laugh & say something funny, like one of her made-up-words.
Heather - I miss you and always will. I hope you're raising hell wherever you are. And will you please send some "freshness" my way!!

Adventures of a country drive
With the unseasonably warm weather and a day off work, Kate and I decided to head out to the Castor River Shut-ins for a wonderful outdoor photography experience. Thanks to my inability to make sound decisions it ended up being quite the adventure.
The shut-ins were amazing and I'm sure had we more daylight, more water, perhaps higher temps and appropriate clothing - we could have had an even better time.

Kate and I continued along the path and sometimes along the river and rocks catching as many views as possible with our cameras. We went even further down river where we had two choices cross to get even more or head up hill. I scurried on down to the river convinced it was a safe spot to cross. I got pretty close and right before I considered it I tossed my shoes on over to the next rock so my hands would be free for support. Stupidest decision ever! I stuck my leg out into the current and decided it was way too strong in that location and headed back up stream to a slower, safer portion of the river. I handed my top layers over to Kate and conquered one of my biggest fears - swimming across water where the bottom is unknown. You would think with it being a river, no problem but because of the dark moss, it made the rocks seem closer to the surface and where I thought I would step onto a rock it was a giant hole. I was about 4 feet deep in a medium current river and swimming across in what should have been frigid water (thank you global warming). I made it to the shoes and thought I should toss them back to Kate because I needed my full support to get back. Well, good thing I don't make my living off of my ability to throw. I missed, horribly and one landed on a rock too far from Kate's reach and the other slowly headed down stream to it's new life.
So, what was so great about these shoes? Nothing really when compared to the stupid decision I made. But the background to these favorite flats - These were an unexpected find while on vacation in Utah. It was the fastest shoe shopping experience of my lifetime - in less than 5 minutes I found and purchased what would become my favorite pair of shoes - American Eagle black and white striped ballet flats. You may find it odd that I was "hiking" in such shoes but I told Kate I was amazed at how much balance and grip they provided on the rock. May they find a peaceful home somewhere down river. Here's the closest thing I could find online but I just don't know if they would be the same...

Once I stumbled back up the hillside I had to hike back out to the car, barefoot and soaking wet. My feet are bruised, my ego is crushed by stupidity and I miss my shoes. Overall, it was a fun day and next time, I will go with my smarts and better footwear! Thanks to Kate for her support!

Dinner - It's more than just an investment for your stomach and a diet plan for the wallet...
Food. Everyone loves it. Some people too much. Some people not enough. Some people waste what they have and others don't have any.
It's hard to believe that a little over 3 years ago I was having doubts about "eating out". Background to that - I had a peanut reaction at one of my favorite restaurants and it all came down to an issue with waiter trust. It was probably one of the most severe reactions I've had. Not only the physical but the emotional baggage which followed. I was terrified to "eat out". The peanut blogs were criticizing me for every trying it. But all I could think was "who lives life that way; afraid of what could happen?"
Fast forward. I moved to St. Louis and was determined to become a magnificent chef (this still hasn't happened). Instead I became connected to the young professionals of the International Institute St. Louis (IISTL). Soon I found myself chairing their social committee and not too long thereafter I was creating an international dinner club. The girl who considered Olive Garden a night on the town was now searching for ethnic restaurants to satisfy the stomachs of anyone who would join.
Hit fast forward again. It's been 2 years since it started and the International dinner club of i squared (the young professionals of the International Institute St. Louis) is still a big hit.
Over the past 2 years we have visited 20 restaurants and it has been amazing. I have had experiences and eaten food that I never thought imaginable. I've fallen in love with Bosnian, Middle Eastern, Japanese (sushi), Peruvian, Mediterranean, Greek, Brazilian, Ethiopian, true Italian, German, Persian, African and Argentine foods. Below is a complete list of the restaurants we've visited if you'd like to try them.
I first started by selecting places that were popular on the website of Sauce magazine but then our group grew to over 20 people at one dinner and the search was on to meet the demand. I couldn't have done it without a dedicated committee and social co-chair. Together we found places that were ethnic, immigrant owned, authentic and of course wonderfully delicious.
St. Louis is a gem in that we exist as a collection of people and cultures from all over the world. I have met people at dinner club from the returned Peace Corps. volunteers, volunteers of the International Institute and those who have received services from the IISTL. And sometimes we gain a new fan - someone who has heard about the dinner club from word of mouth.
Well, this is a bittersweet moment. The 2 years of planning, organizing and hosting the dinner clubs has come to an end. With my transition to the Junior Board of the Institute I will begin to engage myself in other ways and someone new will resume the dinner club, happy hours, book club and film series. And my last supper could not have been better!
Tonight we sampled Bosnian food at Grbic (4701 Keokuk St.). I have been a huge fan of Bosnian food and Bosna Gold ever since dinner club began but tonight was right up there among the favorites. The environment was captivating, the service was charming and the food was exceptional. For the first time ever I had quality stuffed cabbage rolls. The first time since I have found any that match the quality of my dad's recipe. They were remarkable. I will definitely be heading back to Grbic soon!
What I love most about dinner club is of course, the food, but the people I have met, the stories I have heard about how each of us are connected to Saint Louis and the International Institute and the conversation. We could talk about the Columbian government or the sound of the chirp of the Baltimore Oriole. Every time it's great and it brings a huge smile to my face and a satisfied feeling to my stomach.
Thank you to the restaurants who have been a part of this wild ride; the volunteers and friends who have helped plan it and keep it alive; the International Institute staff for their continuous support and of course the patrons of our little International dinner club. And on a personal note - thank you for helping me expand my palate and stretch my bravery when it comes to "eating out".

GBR, SOD
Good:
I made it home in time from my meeting tonight to see Glee. I've missed it the past two weeks which has sucked!
I booked my ticket home for the holidays!! 2 months until I get to have fun with the family. Yahoo!!
Bad:
The ground is so wet here that it's actually mushy under my feet when I take Cooper out. Tonight - my feet sank a little if I stood in one place for too long. Awesome!
Why do they make it impossible to redeem airline miles? Seriously people!!
Random: everything feels random today. Tonight, I logged onto this site which I haven't visited in about 2 months and wowie! I'm blown away. Okay, I'll admit, it's an online dating site. I am one of those non-believers who does it just for laughs. Luckily they are free laughs which could also explain the caliber behind each profile. Tonight the mix was a 74 year old scuba diver, a guy with 2 kids looking for a new mom so he can play more, a guy who already e-mailed me the longest message and a guy who propositioned something so extreme it's no wonder that his account has since been deleted. I pose this question to you - have you ever known someone to actually meet a quality character on a shady dating site? I just find it so hard to imagine that actually happens. To those who do use these sites and who take them seriously, I don't mean to offend you.

Reflections
It has been a very long time since I made time to get outside and dive into my passion - photography! It has been even longer since I've made the time to upload said photos. But this past weekend I took time for myself and spent a few hours reflecting at the Missouri Botanical Garden among the beautiful changing colors surrounded by the charming sounds of Wilco (thanks to a fully-charged iPod). 10 Years Part II
It's so hard to imagine that it's already been 10 years.
10 years since I graduated high school; 10 years since I started college; and 10 years since I joined Kappa Kappa Gamma.
A lot of my friends thought Sororities were a way of buying friends but I joined because my sister was a Kappa and loved it, I wanted to meet new people and given opportunities to volunteer (seriously). Rush week was intense but once I joined KKG things began to feel like they fit and I was ecstatic! Before I knew it I was no longer a pledge and I was initiated into the sisterhood of KKG.
There were so many wonderful chances to get involved and really be a part of the group. Yes there were parties, drinking and meeting boys but when I look back today the things I remember most are the friendships made and the memories that won't soon be forgotten.
Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication with the KKG President, my time in Kappa ended way too early. It's not like I did anything wrong but suddenly the girls who became my "college family" were gone. I was heartbroken. Luckily I had made one of the most unlikely and wonderful friendships - Emily. We became roommates and before long we had lived together for years and pretty much did everything together. Even though we now live in different states we try to stay in touch as often as possible. I will forever be grateful to KKG for this bond with her.
I wish I could say I have done as well in keeping in touch with other members of KKG and the guys from my favorite frat that I met along the way. When I look back at the pictures from those days I truly treasure the memories and wish I had more.
Maybe someday I will make the call to become re-instated but until then... I only have the pictures and the little reminders of what KKG is and was for me. Happy Founders day to my fellow Kappas!

Movie Review: I Love You Man
I've become addicted to Redbox to satisfy my rental needs and my most recent was I Love You Man. I was hoping this would be as funny as 40 Year Old Virgin and The Hangover but no, it was more like a man version of a chick flick. It had a few funny parts but overall, it was not worth $1.08.

Food Frenzy
While home my sister exposed me to some new food items that I fancy quite a bit. Thanks Jaim!
Pringles. I know right! I had never had them because I figured I couldn't eat them due to my allergy. Well I was wrong and thank goodness. They are so dang good!
Almonds. I know, you are thinking "no, Bree, what about your allergy?" Well there is actually one nut company out there that thinks about those with allergies to peanuts - thanks Blue Diamond! I am addicted. Since this discovery I have invested in and quite enjoyed their Wasabi, Salt & Vinegar, Jalapeno, Smokehouse, Salted and Vanilla Bean flavored almonds. Yummy!!!
And this one is thanks to Shawna. Recently Shawna traveled to Canada where she discovered that Mars bars are peanut free. Canada has this great peanut free system (peanut free Canada) and I can eat Mars bars because of it. She brought back 5 and all of them are gone! Adventures in bulk shopping
Most of you are well aware of my policy regarding WalMart. And most of you think I am weird for sticking to my belief in not supporting the store or anything related like Sam's Club or the property management company owned by WalMart.
Well, did you know that for my job I often have to shop at WalMart or Sam's? Yep, it's not something of which I'm proud. Had I known that before I took this job, I may have reconsidered. Seriously.
Anywho, working at a private school where most of the families cannot afford the tuition and therefore we fundraise quite a bit, we also make every effort to cut costs and this means shopping at such places. For this, I must admit that I am grateful for the discounts offered by these stores and I can understand why so many families opt to shop there.
Today I had the honor of paying a visit to Sam's to buy supplies for two upcoming events. The grocery list was simple but for a girl who isn't used to shopping in warehouses stocked floor to ceiling with items large enough to feed Paul Bunyan, well, it was overwhelming. I was shocked at how many people were there during the day. It was packed! Are there this many people who either work from home or don't work at all?
Once I had everything on my list I headed to checkout only to find lines as long as the aisles within the store. Here comes the part that actually impressed me. A girl scanned my card (yes, I have one - I had to for work) and then she scanned all of the items in my cart and instead of having to unload all of those big items once again all I had to do was hand the cashier my card and she rang up my order. Pretty cool.
While I wish that Costco was close enough to accomplish the cost savings for the school I do appreciate that there is at least one place, even if it isn't my personal favorite.
A few weeks ago a doctor told me I needed to take Zyrtec daily and when I replied that it is too expensive to take daily he suggested I go to Sam's for the hefty discount on the generic. Well, I think I'm going to recruit some friends to join Costco with me and we'll see if I can get such benefits there instead!

I personally do not support the store after learning facts in a class in college which were supported by a documentary. Ever since then, I've stood firm with my beliefs. To each their own, right?!

Weekends - where do they go?
Seriously! Why do weekends always fly by so freaking fast? It was my last half-day Friday for the summer and I left extra early due to the fumes from our gym floor being refinished. Luckily, since I was feeling overwhelmed from missing an extra day because of vacation, our IT guy gave me a laptop and remote access so I could work from home. Perfect! I could spend time with Cooper, rest from the headcold, do laundry, and work! Not the case. I was only able to get the remote access to work Friday and I spent it working on a very important e-mail. It actually took me forever to write it because I don't know how to change the track pad settings on this thing and the cursor kept ruining my sentence composition. It sucked!
And again the remote access isn't working so it's time to get off my blogging butt, get ready, and head into work to try to catch up. What sucks the most is that I will be working next Sunday too for an event. How am I honestly suppossed to have time for a second job when I spend all of my time with this first one? Truthfully, I may work a lot, but I love it. I finally have a job that I love going to everyday. Each day is a new challenge and I love that!!
Alright, goals left for the weekend - get at least 4 solid hours of work done; buy the papers to start this coupon cutting lifestyle my sister has seemed to make so successful; go to yoga; do laundry; get some rest before a very long and busy week.

10 Years...
I recently headed back to Utah for my 10 year high school reunion. What an adventure! Plus it was a chance to see my family and catch up with friends.
My nephews. They are my world. Jackson turns 7 this month, Joel is 4 and Max is 1. Man, does time fly! They are as adorable as I remember and Max has grown so much. Walking, mohawk wearing, cutie pie. Joel is talking up a storm. Jackson starts 1st grade. CRAZY! Jackson and Joel spent much of my time there telling me all about, teaching me how to play, and kicking my butt at Mario Kart. Yes, a 4 year old beat me at a video game! It was great to also see Matt and Jaimie... and Sydney.
We had a chance to catch dinner with my Aunt Donna and Justin (cousin) from Vegas while they were in town which was great. I also spent time taking trips down memory lane - checked out the old house, my grandparent's grave, the U of U, the KKG House, and downtown SLC. I felt like a tourist in my hometown for the first time ever. I had an awesome time with Matt and his family at Kennecott family day. We were able to eat lunch in the mine and hike up the stairs to the huge truck cabin where Matt works. So Awesome!
Reunion. First of all, I was excited to see Moo - weird to think we've been friends for 12 years now! Her new BF is adorable and I love her dog, Addie. We headed to the reunion and it was pretty much just like high school. Still just as clicky with all of the popular kids sitting together; Monica and I sat in the corner with people we had never met. I would say hi to people but they didn't recognize me until they spotted my senior picture on my nametag. And of course I flaunted my new full back tattoo which turned some heads ;) During dinner they did awards and I was nominated for and won the Jekyl & Hyde Award for the classmate who has changed the most. I guess that's a good thing?? Moo and I hosted a party after ward and it was great to reconnect with so many old friends. Thanks to all of you for making the trip out to Sandy for some food, drinks, rock band and fun!
The next day it was off to the Park City Arts Festival with Jeff. This has always been a tradition in my life and it's been hard to keep up since I moved to STL. But Jeff agreed to driving my sorry butt up there so I could really take a trip down memory lane. It was a blast. Jeff, you crack me up!!
And of course there was plenty of pool time, down time, sandcastle building time, and movie watching time with Jaimie, Matt and the boyz! On my "last night" in town Murphy joined the family for a hike to Bridal Veil Falls. The boys adored him! And he was so adorable with them. Thanks Murph for hanging with my family!!
And the best part was the visit with my aunt and grandma and getting bumped from my flight which gave me an extra night with my munchkins. Awesome!!
Coming back to STL was really, really hard this time. I love my job and friends out here but this time, I was so tempted to consider moving back. Someday, and probably someday in the next 3 -5 years, I feel I will be heading back. I just can't miss anymore fun with my family and friends....
But in the meantime, it's back to the Lou with hopes that my friends and family from back home will visit often.
I miss you all so very much already and thank you for making this trip so wonderful!!

It's been a while
Wow - has it really been three months since I last blogged? I guess that's life sometimes. A lot has happened since then so I have some writing to do. Taxes are done, work is still very busy but I plan on using my free time for this much needed catch up - coming soon!!

Good: I had a wonderful night of fun - great food, discounted "designer" clothes, a wonderful movie (Doubt) and great company. Another great update, I've been told by my landlord that he is okay with me getting a small dog - more details coming soon.
Bad: My weekend was the 2 snow days I had this week - but at least I was given those!
Random: hearing people fight - it's so interesting! Oh, and I started listening to my Audiobook on Learning French in the Car. I have discovered that I am a visual learner. Any suggestions?

Movie Review: Doubt
Don't take my word for it - you must see this for yourself!
This movie was amazing! If I had to rate the Oscar nominated movies I have seen so far, I would say Doubt ties for 2nd place in my books behind Slumdog and along with Milk. I loved everything about this movie.
My favorite quote:
A woman was gossiping with her friend about a man they hardly knew; I know none of you have ever done this. That night, she had a dream. A great hand appeared over her, and pointed down on her. She was immediately seized with a overwhelming sense of guilt. The next day, she went to confession. She got the old perish priest, Father Arrorick, and she told him the whole thing. "Is gossiping a sin?" She asked the old man. "Was that God All Mighty's hand pointing down at me? Should I ask for your absolution, father? Have I done something wrong?" "Yes." Father Arrorick answered her. "Yes, you ignorant, badly brought up female. You have blamed false witness on your neighbor. You played fast and loose with his reputation, and you should be heartily ashamed." So the woman said she was sorry, and asked for forgiveness. "Not so fast." says Arrorick. "I want you to go home, take a pillow upon your roof, cut it open with a knife, and return here to me." Movie Review: Revolutionary Road
A goal of mine is to see as many of the movies nominated for Oscars as possible... before the Oscars. I have a lot to see! For a listing of nominees, please visit: http://www.oscar.com/nominees/?pn=nominees#top.
This weekend I saw Revolutionary Road. I was torn as to whether or not I liked this movie. It reminded me of American Beauty - Tragically beautiful; a classic depiction, sadly true, of the common marriage. This movie left me feeling depressed, hopeless, and sad. Not my goal that evening. On the flip side: the acting was brilliant, the cinematography was creative, the costume and set design was classic and the music fit it perfectly. And it was just a movie. My hope was restored today on my adventures with the new people I met on my "new" 2nd job.
Of the movies nominated in every category, I have 39 left to see (this includes documentaries, foreign and short films). The movies that I will try my hardest to make time to see before the Oscars:

Good: Okay, so I didn't accomplish as much as I had set out to take care of over this 3 day weekend. But - no regrets because I did have a great weekend where I spent an equal amount of time getting stuff done and being a lazy butt.
Bad: I still really want a personal chef
Random: 1-20-09. 8 years later and it's finally time for change. Crazy to look back over the past 8 years. Not only politically, but personally, a lot has happened. I was only 20 when Bush came into office. I was in my 2nd year of college and was in a long-term relationship. Now, I'm living in the Midwest, have 3 adorable nephews, have a job I love, and can't wait to see what's next in my life!

I will catch up on laundry, put away holiday decorations, gather documents to renew my car registration, ship stuff to friends and family, find a 2nd/3rd job, go to the gym and yoga class, clean my house, read my book, fix my computer, try a new recipe, buy a pet and relax.

Awesome!
I finally got around to unpacking my Christmas gifts that were shipped to me last week (just couldn't fit them in my suitcase) and I'm so glad I did. It was like Christmas all over again!
My main motivation in unpacking them tonight, rather than wait for more time with this upcoming 3 day weekend, was that my Aunt gave me this solar powered/hand crank emergency radio and I thought just in case the power goes out as it approaches an Arctic temperature of as much as -30 tonight, I should have a way to connect to the world. I opened it, cranked away, and I'm amazed. It has 3 methods of re-charging, has weatherband, radio, flashlight, and can charge cell phones. Awesome!!! I just hope to not have to use it anytime soon.
I'm also going to fix my computer this weekend so I can unload my pictures from the trip to post. More to come soon!

2009 Resolutions
Each year I make them and every year but 1, I broke them. I wish I could say the 1 I kept was a good one but in looking back, it wasn't the most positive of a resolution. Below is my list of what I resolve to do in 2009 -
Live in the now
Procrastinate less
Not let guilt "trip" me as much as it has in the past
Complete my 30x30 list and actively begin achieving those goals (30 goals to accomplish by my 30th birthday)
Begin to learn 1 new foreign language (this ties into the 30x30)
Travel to a place I've never been
Make my life an adventure
Play
Read more
Laugh
Try at least 3 new recipes a month
Explore new things
Patience
Dive into the "art" of photography
Go to yoga at least once each week and be active (gym, walking, etc) 2 other days each week

Wow!! You must see Slumdog Millionaire
I have a lot of "all-time" favorite movies but I believe tonight I saw one of the best I've ever seen - Slumdog Millionaire. I can now see why it swept the 2009 Golden Globes. I was so deeply embedded in the movie from the very beginning. The acting, the story, the music, the scenery - all of it -- AMAZING!!

Good: My lunch is delicious today!
Bad: I was running very late to work and in an effort to make it there sooner decided I would keep up with the cars in front of me (even thought they were speeding). I'm the one that got pulled over. So, I was REALLY late for work and have a ticket to pay.
Random: Shawls. I just don't get them and need lessons in wearing them. I feel like a cowboy.

In watching the Golden Globes last night, I realized there are a lot of movies I have not seen!

2008 in Review
2008 was a great year - filled with ups, downs, and unexpected surprises!
January: I was beginning month number 2 at my new job in fundraising at CID and things were about to become very, very busy!
February: My first big event at work - our annual Trivia Night. It was a very busy week followed by a successful event. The night flew by and it ended with Tracy and I enjoying a yummy meal at Ihop.
March: My cousin Justin married his long time girlfriend Angela in Las Vegas. I wasn't able to join my family at the celebration but I was there in spirit. Things were still horribly busy at work with us gearing up for our HUGE annual fundraiser, the Ultimate Picnic, which would occur in May.
April: Crunch time at work - all I did was work. Well, and take care of my ailing car. My '93 Altima was dying almost weekly for one reason or another. I spent more money on repairs and rentals this month than I had in driving the car since I was 16.
May: I said goodbye to the Altima! It died one last time and I bought a 2008 Honda Civic that I love!!!! I named her Saphira and I adore her. For the first few weeks I owned her I kept wondering when I would have to take her back to Enterprise - Never!! The Ultimate Picnic was a huge success in terms of the best event a lot of people said they had ever attended! Yahoo! I was able to fly home over Memorial Day for a quick visit with the family and to meet the newest addition, my sister's third son, Max Thomas! He was so adorable. Born a day before Joel's birthday it was a weekend full of celebrations! It was so hard to leave to come back to St. Louis.
June: Things were slowing down at work! Finally!!
July: I spent one of my last half-Fridays at work on a road trip with Kate and Tomas up to Chicago. I love this city!! It was a very quick trip but tons of fun. I flew to Minnesota where I spent a week with my best friend Emily preparing for her wedding to Mike. It was such a busy week but so memorable. Em and I didn't get a lot of time to goof off and have fun but it was still a blast, tiring, but a blast!
August: For the first time ever, I missed Jackson's birthday and it was horrible! But I bought him some Hulk hands and I heard they were a big HIT! School was beginning once again and it was time to begin my second year!
September: I spent most of my time working, volunteering, meeting new people and just trying to enjoy what free time I had! I also started a second job - selling Avon. I wish I could say this was a wise decision but I was the one who was buying the most.
October: Naresh came in for a visit and to buy his new car and I drove to Kansas to meet Monica and her family for a day visit in the city. It was tons of fun!! For the first time in a long time I dressed up at work for Halloween. I was Luigi, or as the kids at school said - the green Mario! So much fun!!
November: I had a quick and unexpected trip home during the beginning of the month for my Grandmother's birthday and my youngest nephew's baptism. It was a REALLY quick trip, but totally worth it. I reconnected with family members that I haven't seen in years - some whom I hadn't even met! And of course my nephews were as adorable as they always are! I wasn't able to fly home for the holiday but a piece of home, my girl, Jenny, flew out to see me. There was a lot of drinking, eating, and goofing off. Oh, how I miss that girl! But I will always have the memory of Utah and Spring to remind me of her crazy ways :) My long time friend Tristan got married back in SLC - wish I could have been there!
December: A lot happened in the first part of this month! I hosted a successful Avon party at my house and discovered that I really like to host parties and bake desserts! I was just trying to make it through the days at work very excited to finally head home for Christmas vacation. I was very ahead of the month and finished my shopping early, sent out my cards, and decorated my house. Good thing I did because on December 14th I got some unexpected news. My long time friend Heather Gross was killed in an avalanche in bounds at Snowbird. It was heart breaking and a lot of the week that followed was a blur. I spent it trying to find a way to get home for her funeral. Thanks to Roth and his Dad, I was able to go to SLC by buddy pass and made it just in time for the services. The funeral was great. A wonderful lasting tribute to Heather. I saw many people who I had not seen in years - it was quite the reunion. I spent the next week with my adorable nephews and my sister and her husband in Lehi and then after Christmas we headed down to St. George to see my parents. This entire trip was memorable, wonderful, emotional, and fun. It gets harder and harder every time I leave "home" to come back to STL and this time seemed to be even more challenging. I never thought I would say this, but beside the obvious reason for missing home - my family, I actually miss Utah!
What's to come?
Who knows. I am working on the resolutions for 2009 and you will see those soon in addition to pictures from 2008 (everything I mentioned above) and much, much more.
